Manager Says:
The purpose of the role is to provide FP&A support, with a strong focus on cost management, for the Specialty Platform during a period of significant growth and integration. Act as a strategic business partner to Operational Directors (Central Functions) to ensure spending is well-understood, effectively controlled, and optimised for efficiency.
Key Role Accountabilities:
- Lead responsibility for cost performance and analysis across Ardonagh Specialty, ensuring financial discipline and insight.
- Monitor and interpret cost trends, identifying opportunities for strategic investment to support growth, as well as areas for cost optimisation.
- Consolidate financial performance across the Specialty division, delivering clear, high-level insights to senior leadership.
- Produce the Monthly Cost Analysis Pack, including detailed commentary and actionable insights.
- Partner with Operational Directors (Central Functions) by preparing monthly P&Ls, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and long-term financial plans for Operational (Central Functions) Teams.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to investigate cost drivers and uncover potential savings.
- Collaborate with Commercial Finance Directors and Financial Control to ensure accurate cost allocation and appropriate capitalisation or exceptional treatment.
- Coach and support senior finance analysts within the FP&A team, fostering development and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications & Capabilities:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Minimum 5 years of experience within FP&A/Commercial Finance
- Experience within the Insurance industry is helpful but not a prerequisite of the role
- Ability to influence others and demonstrate confidence when dealing with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Highly collaborative with the ability to adapt approach, think on your feet, and have a can-do mentality
- Being able to see the bigger strategic picture and challenge when something does not look correct
- Team player who can roll their sleeves up and have great attention to detail
- Robust and pragmatic, with the ability to manage conflicting demands and operate in a time-pressured environment
