The purpose of the role is to provide a quality claims advocacy service with responsibility for ensuring the effective management and settlement of claims within all classes of our energy business. This includes:
- Upstream Oil and Gas (property/construction)
- Downstream Energy/Petrochemical (property/construction)
- Power Generation (property/construction)
- Renewable Energy (property/construction)
- Energy Casualty (third party liability)
A Claims Advocate is a strategic partner, focused on driving client success and business growth. They leverage expert communication, and persuasive insurance policy analysis to present compelling cases for to insurers of behalf of clients.
By anticipating potential challenges and addressing stakeholder concerns, they ensure optimal outcomes throughout the claim's lifecycle.
Main Responsibilities:
- Management and control of a variety of claims within all Energy business lines.
- On receipt of claim notification- identify the risk, review details in conjunction with coverage/wording afforded, acknowledge to client/intermediary, prepare claims file accurately and promptly and maintain in-house computerised claims records.
- Producing claims information and presenting to insurers or clients, either in written or networked format; and dealing with any resultant instructions, queries and enquiries.
- Monitoring insurers’ agreement and payment of funds and ensuring that payment is made to the appropriate beneficiary.
- Reporting any claims difficulties immediately to management.
- Ensuring relevant insurer’s instructions are notified to Client/expert and vice versa.
- Building meaningful relationships with Clients, experts and insurers by dealing with them in a prompt, friendly and professional manner at all times.
- Ensuring effective liaison with placing colleagues, including, where required, the maintenance and provision of claims statistics for renewal or similar purposes. This also includes participating in the sales and onboarding process for potential new clients as requested by the business.
- Ensuring effective liaison with accounting colleagues both in respect of collection/payment of funds, any queries and the subsequent clearance of accounting entries.
- Keeping up to date with market and system changes. This includes building a strong market network within the energy claims community.
- Monitoring workload and reporting to management as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in business, law, economics, or engineering preferred but not required.
- A desire to achieve ACII status within a reasonable amount of time.
0-3 years with a broker, insurer, lawyer, or loss adjuster handling upstream energy claims. Alternatively, we would consider someone with experience in other energy lines, property, or marine, who has an interest in moving into upstream energy. We will also consider applicants without insurance experience, if they demonstrate a strong desire to learn and develop their career in insurance.
